THEIR STORY

Cultural Detour was born from a deep love of kimono, the Japanese culture and this wild, blue earth of ours. Designer Dyan Reeves grew up in Okinawa, Japan and became painfully aware of the great amount of trash we create and the very few options we have to dispose of it.

This fact forged her passion for sustainable products and led her to a place of great curiosity about how we can create less waste by making good choices and using the things we already have. Cultural Detour hopes to show others the beauty of our world through wearable art, while preserving the beauty of centuries-old traditions that are being lost.

THEIR PRODUCTS

Each of our pieces is created by hand, individually sewn and distinctly imagined, ensuring the highest quality products with the least impact on our world, but a big impact on your heart. You need accessories in your life that are quick, fabulous and stylish. Cultural Detour uses kimonos, Japanese boat flags, and boro fabrics to create pieces for your modern wardrobe. Because they have journeyed through history, they have stories from their previous lives.

We embrace imperfections, intentionally leaving beauty marks and patches to allow you to marvel at their travels.  Because each piece is as unique and spirited as its owner, each finished product is one of a kind.
