THEIR STORY
Joie LaFrentz was born and raised in Iowa and has always had a love for design, color, and fashion. She studied both fashion merchandising and design before ending up with an art history degree. After living all over the country, Joie settled back in Iowa to raise her family amongst hard-working people and open spaces.
The idea of having her own line was always in the back of her mind, so after having four boys who were past their toddler years, she took numerous classes to ensure she had the foundation needed to launch JOLA. When she’s not trying to keep her growing crew fed or running to their activities, she spends every free minute sourcing sustainable fabric, manufacturing partners, marketing JOLA’s current line, and spreading the word on how color can be uplifting in our daily lives.
THEIR PRODUCTS
All fabrics used are sustainably made with TENCEL™, modal, bamboo, and organic cotton when available. Three out of the five styles of shirts are made from Standard 100 OEKO-TEX® fabrics. Two styles use TENCEL™ Modal fabrics. The PJ Top is made with corozo buttons, which unlike plastic buttons, will eventually biodegrade over time. The Vest is made with buttons from upcycled horn that has been discarded naturally.
Consciously selected notions are used along with recycled labels and hang tags. Dutiful pricing reflects the selection of superior materials, ethical sustainability standards, and a commitment to quality fit and tailoring. Made in small batch orders, JOLA is doing its best to keep firm tabs on quality control, eliminate waste, and manufacture with common sense principles and standards.
